Maybe it’s Florentino Pérez’s influence, but for many years now, it has been in our DNA to want a new Galáctico every summer. It’s our dream, and for many Real Madrid fans, some signings are even more exciting than certain titles.
Just look back at the original Galácticos era with Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, David Beckham, Owen, etc. Then, in Florentino Pérez’s second era, we had Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaká, Benzema, and more recently, last summer’s blockbuster signing—Kylian Mbappé.
Who Will Be the Next Galáctico?
The truth is that it’s still unclear who the next Galáctico could be this summer.
A while ago, there was a lot of speculation about Erling Haaland, but he chose to join Manchester City and recently renewed his contract with them. However, City is having a terrible season—Real Madrid knocked them out of the Champions League, and there’s even a chance they might not qualify for next season’s competition.
If they don’t make it to the Champions League (and considering their pending legal issues), it could be the perfect opportunity to sign Haaland.
There are also rumors about a possible departure of Vinicius Junior this summer—perhaps to Saudi Arabia? If that happens, Real Madrid might look for a true No. 9, allowing Kylian Mbappé to play in his natural position as a left winger. Another option would be keeping Rodrygo on the left and signing a new right winger instead.
