Up Next: Two League Matches and Then the Copa del Rey Final

Today is a sad day, a tough one — if there’s something that really hurts us Madridistas, it’s getting knocked out of the Champions League. Luckily, in the past 11 years we’ve won it 6 times, so we’re the team that’s had to endure that feeling the least, haha. But still, today is a tough day.

The good news: this doesn’t stop. The impossible calendar, with matches every three days (which has left our squad completely drained at this point in the season), might actually help us now, because it won’t give us much time to dwell on the loss — we have to focus on what’s next. So, what is next?

There are three major objectives left this season:

    • Fight for the league until the very end: it’s crucial to try and win every match, especially El Clásico on May 11th (4:15 PM).
    • The Copa del Rey final against Barcelona (Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 PM).
    • The Club World Cup.

And like we said — there’s no stopping. This Sunday we already have a tough match against Athletic Club at the Santiago Bernabéu at 9:00 PM — a good moment for the team to apologize to the fans and bring them some joy with a win.

The next match is also a league game and it’s midweek — on Wednesday against Getafe at the Coliseum at 9:30 PM. And just three days after that, the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 PM in Seville, at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

So, three key matches ahead that will define the outcome of both La Liga and the Copa del Rey. And we’ll also have to wait and see if we can count on Kylian Mbappé, who was injured yesterday against Arsenal. He definitely won’t be ready for Sunday, and probably not for the Getafe match either — we’ll have to see if he can make it in time for the final.
