Real Madrid 3 – Leganés 2, goals by Mbappé (2) and Jude Bellingham.
A very important victory for Real Madrid, who needed to win to stay in the La Liga title race, especially after Atlético de Madrid dropped points today with a draw, making them fall behind in the fight. It now seems that the final battle for the league will be between Barcelona and Leganés.
In a tough match, Ancelotti decided to rest the South American players (Valverde, Rodrygo, Vinicius, and Endrick), as well as Tchouaméni. He opted for Modric, Brahim, and Arda Güler instead. However, both Brahim and Güler were not particularly sharp, creating little danger.
The game went in Madrid’s favor with a penalty in the 32nd minute, converted by Mbappé, but just a minute later, Leganés equalized, making it 1-1. Then, in the 41st minute, things got complicated when Leganés took the lead with a 1-2 scoreline.
At the start of the second half, Jude Bellingham scored the 2-2 right after the break, calming the game down and setting Madrid up to go for the three points.
Ancelotti eventually brought on the South American players (except for Endrick, who once again had no minutes) and Tchouaméni. In the end, Kylian Mbappé sealed the 3-2 win with a stunning free-kick goal. With this brace, he continues his impressive scoring run for Real Madrid, matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 33 goals in his first season at the club. Only Iván Zamorano, with 37 goals in his debut season, remains ahead of him—Mbappé is just four goals away from surpassing that record.
A Kylian le gusta que los planes salgan bien. 😎🐢

Real Madrid didn’t play well today, but they got the job done and showed determination. Winning was the priority, and they achieved it—three crucial points to stay in the title race. Now, the team will focus on physical recovery ahead of Tuesday’s Copa del Rey match against Real Sociedad. With more training sessions and rest days in Madrid, the squad will have a chance to regain some energy.
