The official announcement of Xabi Alonso as the new Real Madrid manager is getting closer, and today another step was taken: right now, there’s a live broadcast where Xabi Alonso is announcing that he’s leaving Bayer Leverkusen.
Everything points logically to a move to Real Madrid. The press is also reporting that after El Clásico, Madrid will officially announce that Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen who will take charge of the team for the Club World Cup — whether it will be Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, or an interim coach in the meantime (all signs point to Solari).

At Bayer Leverkusen, undoubtedly his biggest achievement was winning the Bundesliga against Bayern Munich last season, marking the first time Leverkusen won it and ending Bayern’s 11-season streak of consecutive Bundesliga titles. Quite an incredible feat.
