€115 Million could earn Real Madrid winning 2025 Club World Cup

The new 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is approaching, set to take place for the first time this year, and more details are emerging, such as the prize money for the team that wins the trophy.

This new tournament will be held every four years among the best clubs in the world, following the same format as the national team World Cup. The first edition will take place this summer in the USA. So, Real Madrid has a new trophy to dream about winning, and whoever lifts it will have the prestige of being the world’s best club for four years—pretty exciting!

    Big Money in This Tournament

One major aspect of the tournament is the significant prize money. Despite lasting only one month, it will distribute more money than any other tournament (though the Champions League distributes more overall, it spans an entire season).

Today, more specific details have been revealed about the prize distribution among the 32 participating teams. Here’s the breakdown:

    Part 1: Fixed Participation Fee

A total of $525 million will be distributed among the 32 teams, depending on their continent, sporting criteria, and commercial value.

    • Europe: €11.8M – €35.37M
    • South America: €14.09M
    • North, Central America & the Caribbean: €8.85M
    • Asia: €8.85M
    • Africa: €8.85M
    • Oceania: €3.32M

Based on this, Real Madrid is expected to receive around €30M (while Atlético Madrid would receive €20M). The difference is due to Real Madrid’s larger fan base and commercial value.

    Part 2: Performance-Based Rewards

A total of $475 million will be distributed based on sporting performance:

    • Group stage (three matches): €1.85M per win / €0.9M per draw / €0M per loss
    • Round of 16: +€6.95M
    • Quarter-finals: +€12.16M
    • Semi-finals: +€19.45M
    • Runner-up: +€27.7M
    • Winner: +€37M

The maximum amount a team can earn is around €115 million. Given that Real Madrid ranks among the clubs contributing the most commercial value, they could potentially reach close to that amount.

Additionally, Real Madrid could benefit indirectly through marketing opportunities with jersey sponsors like Adidas, Fly Emirates, and HP, who agreed to sponsor the club before this tournament even existed. Now, they will gain extra exposure from it.

The tournament’s massive international visibility could also boost the Real Madrid brand and even increase visits to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Furthermore, FIFA will not only distribute money among the 32 participating clubs but will also set aside an additional fund to support clubs worldwide. The exact amount remains to be determined but could be around 250M.
