Real Madrid Relaunches Their Eighth Champions League Jersey

For those who love Real Madrid’s history (and after a tough week following the defeat against Arsenal, there’s no choice but to dive into the archives and relive our glorious past), you’re in luck.

Real Madrid and Adidas have announced that starting tomorrow, April 11, a reissue of the Real Madrid jersey worn during the season they won their eighth European Cup (1999/2000) will be available for purchase on Adidas online store and the official Real Madrid online store.

It’s the famous kit from the final against Valencia (even though they actually wore the black away kit in that final — the good news is that the black version will also be available). I have a feeling the black one might outsell the white, since it’s the one most people associate with that Champions League win.

They’ve actually named the campaign “Bring back 99/00.” Spanish YouTuber DjMaRiiO also appears in the promotional video.

For the launch, they created a video featuring several players from that team, including Iker Casillas, Guti, Morientes, Raúl, and Sanchís. Sanchís, who was captain at the time, was the one who lifted the trophy (by the time of the ninth, with Zidane’s famous volley, it was Hierro’s turn). Joining them in the video is Marcelo, who appears with his children — including Enzo Alves, who’s been making waves in Real Madrid’s youth academy. Militao also makes a cameo from the stands.

They even recreate Guti’s legendary backheel assist — this time finished off by Raúl. It’s all done with a nostalgic and humorous vibe, in a home-video, amateur style that makes it feel more personal and relatable.

We’ll update this post tomorrow with more info on pricing and details once the jerseys are available to buy. It looks like fans will be able to purchase the home kit (white), the away kit (black), and the tracksuit. The shirts even keep the sponsor Real Madrid had at the time — Teka — which adds an extra layer of authenticity.

Update (11/04/2025): They’ve already put the kits on sale. As we feared, the prices are outrageous: €110 for the shirts and the jacket, and €100 for the pants (€210 for the full tracksuit). Honestly, I think Adidas and Real Madrid are making a big mistake with these prices. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think they’ll sell many. It’s a bit disrespectful to the fans to charge those prices for a replica shirt from many years ago, especially when it can’t even be customized with a player’s name or patches. It’s more of a marketing move than a real sales effort.

Important: If you’re a Madridista cardholder, you get a 15% discount, which means €16.50 off. So if you’re planning to buy it and you’re not a premium member, it definitely makes sense to become a member first and then make the purchase.
