Even though we’re Madridistas, we have to admit there’s a new star in the football world: Lamine Yamal.
The young Barcelona player, only 17 years old, has been surprising the football world for the past 1–2 years—first because of his age, and then because of his incredible talent.
With the spectacular match he played yesterday (after the blackout in Spain) against Inter Milan in the Champions League (which ended 3–3), he’s now established himself as a strong contender for the next Ballon d’Or—especially if Barcelona manages to win the treble: the Copa del Rey, La Liga, and the Champions League.
Yesterday, he single-handedly brought Barcelona back into the game after going down 0–2 and was unstoppable for the Italians the entire match, even scoring a stunning goal.
Could Real Madrid sign him?
The reality is that he would undoubtedly be the best possible signing—not only to weaken our eternal rivals, but also because he plays on the right wing. With Rodrygo likely leaving this summer, we’ll need to sign someone for that position.
But although it would be another “Figo moment,” it seems completely impossible to sign him. Even though it wouldn’t be the first time Florentino Pérez pulled off some ‘magic’, this time it appears impossible, as the player has no interest whatsoever in leaving, and Barcelona would never let him go—especially not to Real Madrid.
That means paying Lamine Yamal’s release clause of €1 billion, which is simply unfeasible for any football club in the world.
We have one consolation
The only consolation we have—besides the fact that he’s Spanish and helped us win the Euro and will play for us in the World Cup—is that his father used to be a Real Madrid fan.
In fact, a while ago, a video of him supporting Real Madrid went viral, although at the time it turned out to be fake and edited. But just a few days ago, another video went viral—this time, it seems to be real.
So real, in fact, that Lamine Yamal’s own father openly admitted he was a Madridista. But he also said that now “he doesn’t care anymore, since the one who feeds him is Barcelona.”
