With Real Madrid’s historic 3-1 victory over Barcelona Women, not only was history made by defeating them for the first time, but also Caroline Weir, the star of this team, made history with her two goals.
In 77 matches, she has reached 39 goals, equaling Esther González, who until now was the all-time top scorer in the history of Real Madrid Femenino.
Following them are Athenea del Castillo (33), Signe Bruun (29), and Olga Carmona (28).
She Joined Real Madrid in the Summer of 2022
Real Madrid signed Caroline Weir in the summer of 2022 after her spells at Hibernian, Arsenal, Bristol Academy, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
In fact, her first goal for Real Madrid came against Manchester City on August 21, 2022, in the Champions League qualifying round.
That season, she scored 28 goals and provided 17 assists in 42 matches, setting the best goal-scoring record by a Real Madrid player in a single season to date.
Second Season: An Unlucky Injury
Her second season was unfortunate, as she suffered a serious injury—a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a match between Scotland and Belgium—which kept her out for most of the season.
Third Season at Real Madrid
Upon her return, in her first league match against Espanyol, she scored two goals, provided one assist, and was named MVP. So far, Caroline has 11 goals in 34 matches. Her last two goals, scored today in El Clásico at Montjuïc, helped Real Madrid defeat Barcelona for the first time.
Caroline Weir is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2026.
