Today, Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the press conference ahead of the La Liga match between Getafe and Real Madrid, which will be played tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Coliseum Stadium at 9:30 PM. After the press conference, the squad list was released, and Mbappé will not be included (we’ll have to see if he makes it to the Copa del Rey final).
Here is the full video of the press conference:
There are 10 games (minimum) left in the season. Mendy and Mbappé will not be available tomorrow, but they will train, and Carlo believes they will be ready for the Copa del Rey final on Saturday against Barcelona.
He’s not planning to rotate players because of the cup final, but rather due to the fatigue from Sunday night.
In football, anything is possible. (He still refuses to speak about his future until the end of the season). He holds no grudges against anyone. He loves being on this bench and hopes to stay as long as possible. If one day it ends, he’ll take his hat off and thank the club.
Regarding the boos directed at Mbappé, “I didn’t hear them, but I read about it. He’s doing everything he can to be ready for Saturday.”
Endrick is making good progress, he’s working well and has gained more prominence now because there are matches where his strength and quality are needed.
The two remaining titles (excluding the Club World Cup) depend on beating Barcelona. That’s the one thing there’s no doubt about: if we want to win both competitions, it all comes down to the two games against Barça.
We’re confident we can do it, we can achieve it. Something needs to change in this regard, and something will change.
“I’m doing well with the club, and the club knows it’s been a tough year. We’ve faced challenges together. The honeymoon is still going strong, and I’m very happy, very content. There’s pressure, sure, but that’s always the case as the end gets closer. The stress increases, but that’s fuel for me—it doesn’t bother me, it gives me more energy to think things through. As long as I wake up in the morning, everything is fine.”
“Whenever there are problems, they blame my ‘soft touch’—too soft-handed. I try to manage people based on who I am. In a relationship, you have to show your true self. My character is about having an open relationship with people on the same level. For that, respect is fundamental—giving and receiving it. They say I’m soft-handed, but no one’s ever been heavy-handed with me—not my father, not my teachers… They tell me to use the whip, but I can’t. If that’s what you want, hire a different coach. That’s just not my way.”
He never thinks about transfers during the season—only at the end. That’s when evaluations are made.
“I’m not complaining about playing on Wednesday. It’s true that the game could’ve been scheduled earlier, since by 9:30 some people are already sleeping. I just hope my players don’t fall asleep tomorrow.”
“Fran García has improved and performed well. I’ve sometimes played Camavinga there, but because of their different characteristics—Camavinga plays more inside, Fran more wide—when it’s out wide, it affects Vinicius more.”
“Barcelona may look like the favorite, but painting Madrid as the underdog in a final seems a bit over the top to me.”
