Ancelotti speaks ahead of Celta: “We’re still in the fight for LaLiga”

Carlo Ancelotti addressed the media in the press room at Real Madrid City, where he previewed the upcoming match against Celta Vigo on matchday 34 of LaLiga (Sunday, 14:00; Movistar LaLiga):

“Celta are a very strong side. They were close to beating Barcelona recently and are very well organized. We’ve had a week to prepare, and I think we can deliver a great performance tomorrow. It’s a crucial match to keep our title hopes alive.”

When asked about the title race, he said:
“Our focus is fully on the present and on each of the next matches. No matter what happens, we’ll fight until the very last second. Despite some injuries this week – Rüdiger, Mendy, and Alaba – we believe we can field a solid team and get the win. There are still five games to go, and anything can happen.”

    Season’s goal
“Our objective right now is to prepare well for tomorrow’s game and win it. Then, we move on to the next one, which is just as important. It gives us another chance to stay in the fight for the title.”

On the Copa del Rey elimination
“I’ve spoken with the president and the club. There’s a bit of a bitter taste because we were so close. The team performed well, and although the defeat stings, there’s nothing to criticize – the players gave everything.”

    Vallejo’s chances of playing
    “He now has more chances.”

    His future
“I’m feeling fine. I know you all want to talk about my future – but I don’t. It’s a communication gap between us. I’m calm and happy. I know exactly what I need to do, and that doesn’t include discussing my future today. It might disappoint you, but I’m not concerned. I care deeply about this club, the players, and the fans. Out of respect, I’ll talk about my future on the 25th – not before.”

    Today´s training:

Squad list match Getafe vs Real Madrid:

Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin y Sergio Mestre.
Defenders: Lucas V., Vallejo, Fran García, Asencio, Youssef y Jacobo.
Midfielders: Bellingham, Valverde, Modrić, Tchouameni, Arda Güler y Ceballos.
Forwards: Vini Jr., Mbappé, Endrick y Brahim.

The surprise seems to be that Rodrygo is not in the squad, and we’re not exactly sure why — supposedly he trained well (or it could be a mistake in the publication). We’ll be keeping an eye on it.
